A Police officer from Bulawayo has appeared in court for allegedly uttering obscenities about a colleague on WhatsApp.
Grace Magwaza (31) appeared before Magistrate Tinashe Tashaya facing a charge of sending messages with abusive language.
Magwaza, who is stationed at Fairbridge, allegedly insulted her workmate Ms Sanilisiwe Ndlovu – whose rank was not mentioned in court – through a conversation she was having with her former boyfriend Mr Cephas Chinjekure (30).
Mr Realy Madzimure, the prosecutor, told the court that Mr Chinjekure later forwarded the messages to Ms Ndlovu.
Mr Tashaya did not ask Magwaza to plead and remanded her out of custody on free bail to this Friday.
Mr Madzimure said: “On June 9, 2017 at around 2130hours, Magwaza received a WhatsApp message from Chinjekure, her former boyfriend and they greeted each other. During the conversation, the accused insulted the complainant.”
She allegedly wrote: “You are being affected by AIDS that you were infected with by Sannie, go and take some tablets before you get mad.”
Mr Chinjekure, the court heard, was disturbed by the matter and forwarded the chats to Ms Ndlovu who reported the matter at Queens Park Police Station.
