2015 edition of the Fashion Weekend Zimbabwe (FWZ) which is set to run from October 9 to 10, 2015 in the Harare, will see two of Africa’s top players in fashion coming through to share ideas on how to develop the local fashion industry.
The two are Namibian born, Jan Malan and Kenya’s Diana Opoti. They will discuss ways to develop the local industry at the Fashion and Design TEDxTalk, which is part of this year’s programme.
“Fashion Weekend Zimbabwe is so excited to announce Diana Opoti’s of 100 Days of African Fashion and the GREAT Umzingeli Jan Malan will be in Zimbabwe for ONE EVENT ONLY,” posted FWZ on their Facebook timeline.
“Diana and Jan along with our very own Jeremy Youmans form Zimbabwe Clothing Manufacturers Association (ZCMA) will be speakers at the Fashion and Design TEDxTalk brought to you by Fashion Weekend Zimbabwe FWZ and TEDxTalk Harare,” read the post.
Jan Malan, Director of Umzingeli Productions, is one of Africa’s leading show producers. Since starting his show production career in 1985, his momentous work, energy and positivity towards the industry has led him to stage high profile productions in over 20 countries spread over four continents.
Opoti, on the other hand, is a fashion media professional, avid blogger, founder and executive producer of the television series Designing Africa. With her hit campaign, 100 Days of African Fashion, Diana Opoti is a champion of the continent’s fashion design market, growing to become one of the Africa’s most formidable fashion connectors.
In 2014 she was nominated as Outstanding Trend Communicator of the year by the continent’s most prestigious awards, in South Africa, The Africa Fashion Awards.
