Top Zimbabwe’s urban groovers Trevor Dongo and ExQ have released a song campaining against gender-based violence (GBV) titled Hasha, as part of commemorations of the 16 days of activism against GBV, which ended recently.

The song that was produced by award winning Oskid, is an emotional track, which is centred on a relationship that is on the brink of collapse because of arguments caused by petty social issues.

“With the release of this song Hasha we are playing our role as musicians in terms of fighting against gender-based violence through music,” Dongo said.

This is not the first time the duo has collaborated. They have done several duets among them Padhuze Newe, Access and Good Love.

For his works, Dongo has been nominated three times at the forthcoming Zimbabwe Music Awards (Zima) to be held next year.

The Nerunako singer has been nominated in the Best RnB, Best Male artiste and Best Collaboration categories.

“It is an honour to be nominated in three categories. As a result of hard work, I believe it is high time I get recognition,” he said.

Dongo has four albums under his belt — Ndozviita Sei (2004), Ruvarashe (2010), First Verse (2012) and Two Steps to Go, a 2014 production.
