President Mugabe’s son-in-law, Simba Chikore, has been appointed chief operations officer of the struggling national airline, Air Zimbabwe.
According to Transport Minister Joram Gumbo, Chikore is expected to take up the post after outclassing other interviewees for the post.Chikore is married to President Mugabe’s daughter, Bona.
This had a lot of reactions from social media i liked one in particular….
Obert Gutu posted on his wall the below message…
The appointment of Simba Chikore as the Chief Operations Officer at Air Zimbabwe (Private) Limited is a very sad and tragic development for the country. It just confirms that the Mugabe dynasty has virtually privatized the State. Zimbabwe is now equivalent to a private limited company whose majority shareholders are the Mugabe dynasty and their cronies.
The MDC would like to condemn,in the strongest terms possible, the Zanu PF regime’s continued plunder of State resources as well as the regime’s utter and complete disregard and disdain for the dictates of good corporate governance. As a party,we very much doubt that Simba Chikore was subjected to a transparent interviewing process before he landed his new job as the Chief Operations Officer at Air Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. More importantly,we have serious doubts concerning Simba Chikore’s suitability for this high profile assignment at the State – owned airline.
This whole case smacks of n.aked and crude nepotism as well as patronage. We challenge the Air Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd board as well as the Minister of Transport to furnish us with full details of Simba Chikore’s professional qualifications as well as work experience. In addition,we would also like to know when, where and how the interviewing process,if any,was conducted.
